How Drinking in 1948 was like Drinking in College, or in 2005

Recently I was speaking on a panel based around the era of David A. Embury's book The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks, first published in 1948. Then, they were coming out of Prohibition that ended in 1933 and World War II that ended in 1945.
