From Where We Stand: Our Weekend in Photos

A glimpse into our editors' lives through square snapshots. Here's how the world looks from where we stand.

Today: A touching tribute band, a wall of chives, and a summer barbecue.

Left: It was their first day on the planet for these baby birds. Right: I really should get around to dividing my wall of chives, but I can't seem to bring myself to do it—their display of bobbing purple heads gets more beautiful every year. —Lindsay-Jean

You may not be able to tell, but this is my sixteen-year-old cat, Mr. Bigglesworth. He spends most of his time sleeping or meowing very, very loudly (since he can no longer hear himself). —Sarah

I was lucky to see a tribute to one of my favorite musicians, Arthur Russell, at BAM this weekend. An incredibly moving performance! —Sam

A patio, barbecue, and stocked kitchen for the weekend means: Genius carnitas and guac, homemade chicharron, and just a few other things (figs, lychees, cherries!). —Ali

In honor of Sunday's thunderstorms, my boyfriend and I headed indoors to bake chocolate-cherry and salted caramel apple pies. If you know anything about my baking skills, it shouldn't take you long to figure out which are mine (the lower two) and which are his (the top two). —Leslie

Here's what's left of the fig I found in my bag on the way home from the train. Feeling grateful for Sam, for making me feel happily twee for 5 minutes on this commute. —Kenzi

Between Shake Shack and the public art installations—like this mirrored sculpture/path shader from artist Teresita Fernández—Madison Square Park might be my favorite place for a detour in all of New York City.—Kristen
